Depending the amount of education and experience, there are jobs as aides, assistants, teachers, master teachers, assistant directors, and directors in child care programs. Caregivers may work with infants, toddlers, preschool, or school age children. The programs they work in can be public and private.
Some of our former students work as nannies or family child care providers. They like the independence of designing their own program and enjoy the close contact with the parents. The curriculum can more easily be designed around the interests of the children.
There are also students who work with school districts. Some work as early childhood family education teachers or assistants. Some work in school age child care programs as assistants, teachers, or site coordinators. Others work as paraprofessionals with children who have special needs. Many of these positions require Associate degrees.
Some former students specialize and work in naturalistic programs, or with children in hospitals child care programs or sick rooms. Some may choose to work in programs that advocate for caregivers or children. Some former students are also adjunct instructors for our program. There are many options available if you have enough experience and training.
